Montgomery County joins other surrounding counties in Pennsylvania in enacting parenting coordination in their local rules. The other three nearby counties involved in this family law endeavor are Bucks, Chester, and Philadelphia. Some differences exist in exactly how the counties will run their parenting coordination programs, but they are all based on the statewide rule that went into effect on March 1, 2019.

The Montgomery Bar Association (MBA) has elected new officers and directors for 2020. Beginning January 10th, 2020, Sarinia M. Feinman took on the role of Vice President of the Montgomery Bar Association. The annual business luncheon was held on January 10th, 2020, and the vote was taken for this year’s nominees. Some of the selection factors included past committee activities, community service, MBA service and contributions, leadership and management roles, and reasons for seeking the role.

The Pennsylvania Bar Association (PBA) Family Law Section (FLS) recently held the 2020 Winter Meeting, at which members commemorated the 40th anniversary of the Pennsylvania Divorce Code. The meeting was held January 17-19 at the Hotel Hershey.

Vetrano | Vetrano & Feinman family attorney Lindsay H. Childs has published a book on family and divorce law. The book, Divorce in the Golden Years: Estate Planning, Spousal Support, and Retirement Issues for Clients at Midlife and Beyond, Second Edition, was published on August 21, 2020, by the American Bar Association. With a focus on the intersection of family law and estate planning, the book covers complex issues in family and divorce law, particularly for clients aged 45 or older.

On January 20, 2020, Vetrano | Vetrano & Feinman family attorney Lydia Terrill participated in a service project in celebration of Martin Luther King Jr. Day. The project, held at the Inter-Faith Housing Alliance in Ambler, Pennsylvania, was coordinated by the Young Lawyers Section and Community Service Director Jennifer Whitehurst, Esq. More than 20 volunteers donated their time to the project, including judges, attorneys and their friends and families.

Vetrano family lawyer Lydia Terrill recently had the honor of educating family attorneys across the state of Pennsylvania by writing a case note for the Pennsylvania Bar Association Family Law Section publication, “Pennsylvania Family Lawyer.” The case note, entitled “The PFA Court has Broad Authority to Enter Temporary Custody Orders,” involves custody provisions in a temporary Protection From Abuse (PFA) order.
